A Game-Changer For East Coast Terengganu

Terengganu based property developer – Ting Mee land by Ting Mee Group will launch a mixed development neighbourhood township called Garden Bay East Coast City in Kerteh, Kemaman by the Mid of 2022.

Mr Matt Wong Nian Fong, the Managing Director recently announced the joint venture effort among Ting Mee Land Sdn Bhd, Garden World Development Sdn Bhd & Terengganu State Government. This collaboration is expected to work on the development of 44 acres of land with an expected Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM 364 Million.

The history of the site goes back to the early 80s where it was originally leased for Petronas by the state government of Terengganu which lasted until early 2000. This was the period where the oil & gas industry bloomed remarkably. This sole effort and recognition of the industry attracted many expatriates and other states’ migrating workers relocating to the area, thanks to the fast-growing and demand of the oil and gas petroleum industry. In a turnover of event, the completion of Rantau Petronas Housing development saw a shift of transferring the staffs to their regional residents leaving the housing units at the proposed site vacant and it’s been 2 decades since the site was left empty. Across the span of 20 years, there were about 10 developers who tendered the land who were unable to solve the underlying issues with the land. To date, the condition of the housing units in the area is in a dilapidated stage. Demolishment of the housings needs to be done before moving into re-development again with mixed development. The application for this process is currently in progress for Planning Permission as a new transformation will take place in this area.
